Public Hearing on Day Care Closures in New York City

The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) recently closed two major child care centers in New York City. The NYS Assembly Committee on Children & Families, is holding a hearing on April 11th in New York City to identify obstacles that NYC day care centers face and the reason behind recent closings.  Click here for hearing details, and to register to testify.


2008 Children's Art Project: Entries Needed!

The 2008 Winning Beginning NY Children's Art Project seeks artwork from children ages 1 to 5 to display in Albany on May 27th - 29th. Art is a powerful visual reminder of the importance of investing in quality early care and education, and submitted artwork is used in a variety of advocacy communications. So get your young Picassos creating! Access the project instructions and art form to submit on the Children's Art Project web page. Deadline for submissions is May 1st.


Seniors4Kids Releases New Report on PreK

Generation United's Seniors4Kids released a new report Generations Unite for Quality Pre-K: New York, which demonstrates the advocacy role older adults can play in support of increased access and improved quality of pre-kindergarten programs. Advocacy Day 2008: Thank you for participating!

The weather didn't cooperate, but that didn't stop supporters from making calls and legislative visits to their representatives. At the Feb. 13th event, Docs for Tots released a new research brief, Investing in Early Care and Education is a Powerful Public Health Initiative for New York's Children.
